What is the cost of India’s air pollution? India houses nearly 15 of the 20 most polluted cities worldwide, which means almost 700 million are exposed to unhealthy air. Life expectancy has decreased by 2.6 years in India due to mounting air pollution; a child born today in India would die 20 months sooner because of the poor air quality as compared to a scenario with lower air pollution. This reflects that the overall survival of India is on the edge and that the citizens themselves must take responsibility as well.
